Signups are available now through early December. The academy is held from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays Jan. 7 through March 18. Attendees will learn about the agency's detective division, equipment, forensics, computer forensics, drug enforcement, DUII, use of force, and the K-9 and SWAT units. Medford police reported that interested parties must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a certified criminal background check. You must also be a Medford resident or work there. (This story has been updated.) Applications are available at Medford City Hall's front counter, 411 W. Eighth St., Medford. The deadline for submission is Dec. 12, though the course usually fills before then, officials said.
