Ashland Ski Area to reopen. The ski area has been closed since last week due to insufficient snow. It remained closed on Monday and will be closed as well Tuesday and Wednesday — the two days each week the ski area normally shuts down. "We're still waiting on more snow," Jamie Schectman, sales and marketing director for the ski area, said. "We received one or two inches in the last day or so, but we need substantially more. We're still in a holding pattern." The ski area had a base snow depth of 10 inches and an upper mountain depth of 18 inches on Monday. Ski area managers are hoping a storm system later this week will bring snow to the mountain. "Starting Friday or Saturday, the weather forecast looks very promising," Schectman said. "We're ready to turn on the lifts as soon as we get enough snow to reopen." The National Weather Service predicts clear and sunny weather Tuesday and Wednesday. Clouds will begin coming in late Wednesday and a chance of snow or rain is forecast Thursday night through Sunday. The ski area was closed all season last winter due to a lack of snow. It took out a $750,000 Small Business Administration disaster loan to stay afloat. Mt. Ashland Ski Area season pass holders can ski or snowboard at reduced rates at Mt. Shasta Ski Park in Northern California, Hoodoo Ski Area near Sisters in northwestern Oregon, Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort in Eastern Oregon and Bluewood Ski Area in southeastern Washington. The ski areas have reciprocal agreements for each other's season pass holders. The Mt. Shasta Ski Area is open, but planned to close on Tuesday while it awaited more snow this coming weekend. On Monday its base snow depth was 10 inches and its upper mountain snow depth was 16 inches. For Mt.
