Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend January 28, 2006 Triad edges Prospect in battle of league leaders Boys Basketball KLAMATH FALLS — Prospect had a fourth-quarter rally come up just short Friday night and the Cougars missed a chance to take sole possession of first place in Skyline A League boys basketball action. Darryl Swearingen poured in 20 points and Jacob Schultz added 16 for Prospect in a 50-48 loss to Triad in a battle of league leaders. Derick Trumbull had 23 points to lead Triad (6-1 Sky A), which managed a 21-20 lead at halftime but built that edge to six points entering the fourth quarter. The Cougars (12-7, 5-2 Sky A) were coming off a 56-37 victory over Milo Academy in a nonleague matchup on Thursday night. Against Milo, Schultz tallied 24 points and Swearingen added 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Lucas Strickland also had 10 rebounds and Colin Madsen nine, while Dakota Gordon chipped in with seven assists. PROSPECT (48) — Swearingen 20, Schultz 16, Madsen 4, Miller 8, Gordon 0, Strickland 0. BUTTE FALLS 68, PAISLEY 56 — At Butte Falls, Dillon Ross tallied 30 points — two off his season high — as Butte Falls held off Paisley. Ross scored 17 points in the second half and was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter. The senior post added 11 rebounds and three steals. The Loggers (9-10, 5-2 Sky A) built a 27-13 halftime lead, but Paisley, helped by a 28-point third quarter, came back to tie the game at 48-all with about four minutes remaining in the game. Butte Falls responded with a 7-0 run on two free throws by Ross, a 3-pointer from Shane Hamilton and a basket by senior guard Chris Stephenson.
