Andres Z. Nuno, 20, of the 2700 block of Falcon Street pleaded not guilty Friday to all the charges in Jackson County Circuit Court. According to an affidavit, Nuno allegedly shot a dog belonging to another person Aug. 23 in retaliation for the dog biting him. Nuno allegedly walked the dog to a different location from where the bite occurred and shot it in the face at least three times with a handgun, which he allegedly fired five to six times. The dog, named Oso, which means "bear" in Spanish, survived after receiving emergency medical treatment, the affidavit said. The dog's owner said she was not present during the incident. She said Nuno told her he had shot the dog, the affidavit said. When Nuno was arrested on the unlawful use of a weapon and animal abuse charges, he and his wife consented to a search of their residence, police said in a second affidavit. Police allegedly found a scale and small plastic container of methamphetamine in a drawer of baby clothes, that affidavit said.
