Sacramento police late Monday afternoon found Sandra Lourdez Luna and 18-year-old Hector Rivera, both of Macdoel, Calif., in a Sacramento-area motel after Luna called her mother that morning to say she was safe and staying in a Motel 6, according to the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department. Rivera, whom police identified as Luna’s former boyfriend, was arrested on two Siskiyou County warrants charging him with failing to appear on two misdemeanor charges, Siskiyou County sheriff’s spokeswoman Susan Gravenkamp said. Several charges were pending against Rivera for his alleged involvement with Luna, Gravenkamp said. Both were being questioned Monday evening by Sacramento police, who are interested in learning the circumstances of the pair’s disappearance. Family members in Macdoel, a small town about 20 miles east of Yreka on Highway 97, reported early Friday morning that Rivera had taken Luna from her residence and left in a 1986 Ford Thunderbird, police said. The pair were spotted late Saturday morning at a Target store in Sacramento after media outlets across Northern California ran photographs of Luna and Rivera, police said.
