Leslie 'Les' Robert Franklin May 14, 2017 12:00 AM A A September 23, 1934 – May 7, 2017 Leslie Robert Franklin, 82, passed away May 7, 2017. He was born September 23, 1934 in Fillmore, California to Lonnie Austin Franklin and Ruth C. Chavez. Les spent his younger years in Simi, Calif. with the loving foster family of Roy and Millie Heath. He earned a BA; served in the U.S. military; and worked in scientific research before meeting and marrying the love of his life, Genevieve (Gini) Burns in 1965. They raised a daughter and a son in Thousand Oaks, Calif. before moving to Utah in 1992 to help care for his aged in–laws. Les and his wife then moved to Phoenix, Oregon in 2001 where he continued his love of running, painting, playing golf, and making friendships. He so loved his family and his friends and never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife, Gini; son, Heath Franklin; daughter, Lia Hernandez (Eugene); grandchildren, Aryonna and Adrian; and sisters, Beverly Brown, Jeanne Franklin (Eddie) and Mary Canchola.
