Luke Somers was captured by militants in Sanaa in September 2013 while working as a freelance photographer. In al-Qaida’s video, the group threatens to kill Somers within three days if its demands are not met. The video is believed to be a response to President Barack Obama’s revelation earlier this week that the U.S. recently made an unsuccessful effort to rescue the 33-year-old in which several other captives were freed. Quote of note “Police officers feel like they are being thrown under the bus,” said Patrick J. Lynch , president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, at a press conference held earlier today. Lynch was responding to New York Mayor Bill de Blasio’s comments about a grand jury’s decision not to indict a white police officer who was involved in the death of an unarmed black Staten Island man. De Blasio said he feared his mixed-race son being a victim of police brutality, and said NYPD would be retraining officers in the wake of Eric Garner’s death. Hot video: Sophie the Stegosaurus fossil goes on display in London London’s Natural Museum of History unveiled Sophie the Stegosaurus , the world’s most complete Stegosaurus skeleton, earlier today in its Earth Hall. The 85-percent-complete fossil was found in Wyoming in 2003 by paleontologist Bob Simon. Scientists say they have a lot to learn from Sophie, and that most of her 360 bones have been scanned and catalogued for reference.
