Wilcox faces charges of murder and first-degree manslaughter in what investigators believe was a domestic violence-related homicide on July 26. He is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bail. The murder count charges that Wilcox intentionally caused the death of Stormo, while the manslaughter count charges that he caused her death under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life. Stormo was found dead of physical injuries at about 2 a.m. on July 27 inside a house in the 400 block of Tumbleweed Trail in the Applegate Valley, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office said. Wilcox's address is in the 400 block of Tumbleweed Trail, according to court records. The sheriff's department reported Stormo was not killed with a gun, but declined to disclose details about her death. Jackson County Senior Deputy District Attorney Allan Smith also declined to say on Tuesday how she was killed. "This is an ongoing investigation," he said. Smith is the prosecutor in the case and will be assisted by Deputy District Attorney Lucy Durst, according to the DA's Office. The grand jury heard testimony from Jackson County sheriff's Detective Sgt. Julie Denney and Deputy Ryan Groom, as well as Medford police Detective Brandon Amaya. The grand jury deliberated for about 10 minutes before announcing the indictment had been issued, the DA's Office said. Wilcox has a preliminary hearing scheduled in Jackson County Circuit Court on Thursday. In 2015, Wilcox pleaded guilty to misdemeanor-level, fourth-degree assault for an attack in Portland. A woman said Wilcox had approached, touched her and asked whether she had a boyfriend. Her boyfriend said he was her boyfriend. Another man punched the boyfriend in the back of the head, knocking him down, the woman told Portland police. Wilcox and the man then hit and kicked the boyfriend, leaving him unconscious, according to a probable cause affidavit. Wilcox was sentenced to probation, community service, alcohol treatment and an anger awareness course for the assault, according to court records from Multnomah County. In 2012, Wilcox pleaded no contest to driving under the influence of intoxicants, Jackson County Circuit Court records show.
