Because the situation was unfolding late into the night, few details were made public. Oregon State Police will release information on the incident as it becomes available. One OSP trooper blocked off the highway on the west side of Jacksonville near Veteran's Memorial Park. Traffic backed up all the way into downtown, forcing drivers to detour. Traffic was also blocked at Cady and Sterling Creek roads to keep traffic off of Highway 238. Apparently, a woman led police on a chase and then barricaded herself in her car after stopping near milepost 28. The woman might have been armed with a gun. Neither her identity nor the details of the chase were available at press time. The highway was still closed at 10:30 p.m. Calls in to OSP supervisors were not immediately returned.
