Workshop tonight covers safe food, water storage CENTRAL POINT -- How to store food and water safely is the topic of a workshop set for 7-9 p.m. today at the Oregon State University Extension Service auditorium, 569 Hanley Road. Home economics agent Janice Gregg and water quality agent Hudson Minshew will lead the workshop, called "Food & Water Storage -- The Safe Way." Gregg, who has been teaching home economics classes since 1981, will discuss food storage techniques, rotation techniques and what food to store for best quality and nutritional value. She also will explain how to prepare stored food in an emergency. Minshew will discuss water storage, rain water collection, cisterns, hand pumps, well water protection, emergency water treatment and waste disposal. He spent two years in Africa with the Peace Corps and has worked for CARE, setting up and running refugee camps in Rwanda.
