Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend September 21, 2005 Power outage affects tens of thousands Pacific Power officials are investigating the cause of an outage that cut electricity to more than 25,000 homes and businesses in Jackson County on Tuesday. Pacific Power spokesman Monte Mendenhall said a faulty transmission line located near the Oregon-California border prompted the widespread outage at 1:58 p.m. The specific reason for the outage was not known late Tuesday, he said. A total of 15,000 Pacific Power customers were without power following the outage. Affected locations included south and east Medford, Jacksonville, Ashland and rural areas throughout Jackson County, Mendenhall said. Another 10,700 homes and businesses that receive power from the city of Ashland had their lights go out on Tuesday, said city spokesman Russ Chadick.
