With two league games left, the Cougars are 9-1. They are 10-1 overall. The top four MVL teams advance to district, which is then followed by a regional tournament. Freshman outside Lindsey Verret had a monster serving game, producing 14 aces and helping the Cougars to 89-percent serving. She also had seven kills. Candi Lewis had eight kills, two aces and two blocks for Prospect, and Maeghan Scriven added seven kills, three aces and a block. Megan Shallenberger produced 16 assists and Catherine Anderson had 11. Advertisement BUTTE FALLS 3, GILCHRIST 1 — At Gilchrist, Butte Falls dropped Game 3 but recovered in the following set to beat Gilchrist, 25-14. 25-14, 12-25, 25-9. The Loggers trailed 13-8 in Game 1 before Chelsie Stephens reeled off 13 straight points to stake Butte Falls to a 21-13. Brianna Wright capped off the run with two aces to close out the game. Nicole Ross served seven straight points in Game 4 to give the Loggers a 9-1 lead and Jossalyn Burg added a 10-point streak to make it 20-5. Stephens had four aces and four assists, Burg gathered nine assists and four aces while Wright fired three aces and added three blocks.
