The 99-acre Old Blue Mountain fire is now considered 75 percent contained, the Oregon Department of Forestry reported. Fire crews have mopped up all hot spots at least 200 feet inside the fire line and will work to hit the 300-foot mark today. Lightning sparked the fire, located eight miles south of Rogue River, Monday afternoon when a thunderstorm rolled through the area. ODF spokesman Brian Ballou said cooler temperatures and better humidity levels the last two days have been a welcome asset in beating back the flames. "The weather's actually been in our favor for once," Ballou said. Crews have had the fire's perimeter completely lined since Wednesday. A level one evacuation advisory for residents living along parts of Humbug Creek Road was lifted at 6 p.m. Wednesday and a roadblock at the right fork of Foots Creek Road was removed at 8 a.m. today. About 200 personnel remain on the front lines today, with help from eight engines, five water tenders, four helicopters and a bulldozer. During the night, crews will be scaled back to one crew and two engines.
