ACE Legally blind Medford golfer makes first hole in one Harry Neal on Saturday hit the best golf shot he's never seen. The 75-year-old Neil, who is legally blind, hit his first hole-in-one Saturday while golfing at the Bear Creek Golf Course in Medford. "I golf every chance I get," says Neil, who took up the game five years ago. "But I never thought I'd do this." Neil used an 8 iron on the 92-yard par 3. He was playing with his wife, Clarice, and the shot was witnessed by another golfer. Neil has macular degeneration, a breakdown of the center of the retina that prevents focusing, but leaves some peripheral vision. He can see only fuzzy shapes.
