Ashland's 21st annual Screamin' TeleLizard Classic once again lived up to its unusual name Saturday, with bizarrely costumed Telemark skiers racing down the ski area's slopes for fun and a good cause. The event adopts a different theme every year, with this season's participants modeling the "shagadelic '70s" and competing in categories that included best costume, biggest air and most speed. The day began with a costume contest and parade, followed by two Telemark giant slalom heats. And it ended with a lodge party featuring food, drink and prize awards. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Special Olympics. A photo gallery from the event will be posted later Saturday at www.mailtribune.com/photos.
