Call 541-450-9352.  Author Talk: Former Ashland City Councilor Alice Hardesty will discuss her book "An Uncommon Cancer Journey: The Cosmic Kick That Healed Our Lives" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Bloomsbury Books, 290 E. Main St., Ashland. The book tells the story of her husband Jack Hardesty's healing from esophageal cancer in the 1980s despite two terminal diagnoses. Alice Hardesty accompanied him on his journey as he tried alternative and complementary treatments. Along with physical healing came the healing of their marriage. Indie Concert: Portland-based Grand Lake Islands will perform with California singer/songwriter Robin Bacior at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at Mix Sweet Shop, 57 N. Main St., Ashland. The Portland five-piece features influences of Americana and slide guitar blended with the distortion-heavy sound reminiscent of early Radiohead.
