Medford police offer information on pyramid scheme investigation Medford police are offering information packets on illegal pyramid schemes believed to involve at least 3,000 Southern Oregon residents. The packets, available today, are part of a continuing investigation on pyramid schemes. In the schemes, police say people give a "gift" to join a group and work their way to the top where the payoff is high. Police detectives attended a meeting of the group called the "Original Dinner Party" and agreed to release the information as a result. Over 200 attended the meeting, according to police. All pyramid schemes are illegal and doomed to collapse, police say. Participants are advised that the Oregon Attorney General�s office, the Jackson County District Attorney�s office and Medford police will continue to investigate the occurrences of the "Original Dinner Party" and prosecute those involved as appropriate. Participation is a violation of the Oregon Securities Statutes, a class B felony. People can pick up the information packets anonymously at the Police Information window on the first floor of City Hall, 411 W.
