Yager lead Comets past Reno squad OREGON CITY - Sarah Yager's presence was a big boost to the Crater High girls basketball team on Saturday. Yager had 13 points and four steals and played stifling defense on Crater's fullcourt press as the Comets routed Reno High 68-26 in the sixth-place semifinal game of the End of the Trail basketball tournament. The Comets, 4-1 in the tourney, meet Ferris, Wash., in the sixth-place game at 9 a.m. today. Sarah Pool led the Comets with 20 points and six assists and Amy Denson added 14 points and nine rebounds. Crystal Huntley came off the bench to contribute eight rebounds and four steals. Pool nailed four 3-point baskets and Yager had three. Yager missed Crater's opening four games of the tourney while attending Girls State. "Her outside shooting and defensive tenacity make us a better team," Crater assistant coach Greg Dippel said of Yager. "This was probably our best game of the summer." Crater's press took a toll early as the Comets surged to an 18-2 lead in the game's first four minutes. The Comets led 38-12 at halftime.
