JOSEPHINE COUNTY DA won't release details in shooting By Jeff Duewel and Shaun Hall Grants Pass Daily Courier MailTribune.com By Jeff Duewel and Shaun Hall Grants Pass Daily Courier Posted Mar. 28, 2016 @ 6:26 pm By Jeff Duewel and Shaun Hall Grants Pass Daily Courier Posted Mar. 28, 2016 @ 6:26 pm » Social News p bs:newslist StartDate="20121121" EndDate="p bs:datecalc Months="3"" DateSort="1" UseObjects="1" ObjectClass="81" Taxonomywords="2325,665" ExactTaxonomyMatch="1" Image="1" Count="4" --> HUGO — The Josephine County District Attorney's Office is not releasing any details related to a shooting on Potts Way on March 21 that left 50-year-old Doug Hansen dead. "At this point, the Potts Way case is still under investigation, and no further information can be released due to the ongoing investigation," said Deputy District Attorney Lisa Turner in a Friday email. Also on Friday, Oregon State Police spokesman Lt. Bill Fugate said OSP knows who the shooter is "and the public isn't in danger." OSP also has said that Hansen lived at the site of the shooting, at the end of a long driveway, adjacent to Interstate 5 and east of Monument Drive, about seven miles north of Grants Pass. Earlier in the week, Detective Sgt. Deanna Harris of OSP declined to even confirm whether someone shot Hansen, or whether he killed himself. "I'm not confirming anything," she said. Nor did she comment on a KOBI-TV report that Hansen was shot by his brother in self-defense during a fight. The KOBI report cited the mother of the men as a source. A local Facebook group that reports police scanner traffic posted that one brother shot the other in the chest. OSP investigates major crimes in the county, outside the city limits of Grants Pass, because the understaffed sheriff's office does not have a detective division.
