More than $35,000 has been donated through the local office of the American Red Cross, Executive Director Marj Jameson said Tuesday. About $1,000 has been contributed to the Salvation Army Medford Citadel, said Development Director Carrie Hanson. In Grants Pass, organizers of an effort to help Sri Lankan victims shipped 12,000 pounds of food, water and supplies Monday. "We shipped everything except four generators," said Barbara Irish, whose daughter-in-law, Shamila Irish, is a native of Sri Lanka. Donors also have offered about $3,000 in cash. Advertisement Collection efforts have expanded into Jackson County, Irish said. Medford Elks Lodge officials volunteered to host a collection site. So did eight grocery stores and businesses in Rogue River. A site is being set up in Shady Cove as well, Irish said. The Sri Lanka relief effort was scheduled to end Friday at the Riverside Inn in Grants Pass, but private collections will continue, Irish said. For more information, call (541) 476-6873.
