"Jim" Lane 1943-2015 This is for those who were unable to be at Jim's memorial at the Church of Christ, or the celebration of life at the Medford Eagles Lodge. Jim lost his fight with pulmonary fibrosis, June 21, 2015, with his family at his side, in Medford, Ore. He was born March 6, 1943 to James E. (Pete) Lane and Zelma O. (Ashford) Lane/Pierce, in Exeter, Calif. in the San Joaquin Valley. His family moved to rural Eagle Point, Ore. where he attended high school. He and his father also owned and operated a small back-hoe service. Upon leaving high school, he joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. In January of 1966, he married Barbara J. (Kadin) Lane/Stephens and even though divorced, they remained life-long friends, having one daughter. Jim worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Butte Falls, Ore. for several years as a surveyor. Most well known for his music, his career spanned five decades in and around the Rogue Valley and Grants Pass, Ore. His band started as "The Squires" in the early 1960's, later becoming the well known band "The Renegades." He also worked as Miss Ginger Rogers' personal chauffeur and did her landscaping and maintenance, up until her death. Jim was a member of the Church of Christ, Medford Eagle Lodge, Grange Co-op, and the Grants Pass Dance Club. He is survived by his daughters, Teresa L. (Lane) Thiesfeld in Harrisburg, Ore., Jo Sondra (Lane) Hansen in Vancouver, Wash., and Dawn Gabriel in Springfield, Mo.; two grandsons, Tracy A. Thiesfeld Jr. and Nathan L. Thiesfeld, both in Springfield, Ore.; a sister, Carol A. (Lane) Barrentine in Medford, Ore.; also several nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by both of his parents. His pasttimes were skin diving off the Oregon coast and he was learning how to dance. He also, having a soft heart, loved animals. He will be missed greatly by all who knew and love him. Donations may be made in his name to the "American Lung Association" and/or the Jackson County Humane Society.
