She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1949. Her parents moved to the Washington, DC area when she was two years old. It was there she grew up and graduated from the University of Maryland in 1971, with a BS in education. Susan taught math and oversaw the pompom squad at Rockville High School for a year, before moving to Salt Lake City in 1972. There she taught math at Hillcrest High School and later moved to a new alternative education program for at-risk students. She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1979 and started teaching at North Middle School in Grants Pass. At GPHS she was very popular and won several awards, including "Teacher of the Year" in 1990. She retired from teaching in 2007. Susan loved the Rogue Valley and the outdoors. She enjoyed rafting, camping, skiing, hiking, and was an avid gardener. Susan is survived by her husband, Tracy; two sisters, Patricia and Pamela; and two brothers, Brian and Jonathon. No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, Susie requested that donations be made to the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation.
