Prep football Roseburg blanks Greshman in playoffs GRESHAM -- Roseburg used a big defensive effort to knock previously unbeaten Gresham out of the Class 4A state football playoffs in the opening round Friday. Roseburg (7-2), the No. 3 team from the Southern Oregon Conference, is host to Sprague, which defeated Marshall 46-15, in the second round. Roseburg took a 3-0 lead into halftime on Ryan Holt's 35-yard, second-quarter field goal and maintained the slim margin until it scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns. Ryan Poe scored on a 2-yard run for the Indians, who also got a 5-yard touchdown pass from Kevin Linderman to Paul Bodenhamer. Mazama advances to a second-round game against Scappoose, which received a first-round bye due to winning the Cowapa League title. Tyler Starkey scored on a 15-yard run and Tyler Juhl kicked the extra point to tie the game at 19-all with 8:21 remaining in the fourth quarter. Willie Wallace, who rushed for 113 yards on 13 carries, scored the winning touchdown on a 1-yard run with four minutes remaining in the game. Myrtle Point's Caleb Krantz scored two touchdowns and gained 179 yards on 21 carries.
