Photo from Mail Tribune files George Oakley wants to sell his batting practice business and adjacent home. Slugger's Way owners want buyer Medford's oldest batting cages are for sale. Slugger's Way, with its nine cages off Bullock Road, is being listed at $275,000 -- a price that includes an adjacent two-bedroom, two-bath home. George Oakley, who built the cages in 1986 and the home seven years ago, says he wants to retire from the seasonal business. "I'm just getting old," says Oakley, 65, who added that he and his wife have some health concerns. "I just knew that within the next couple of years we were going to have to make a change." While the addition of batting cages at the Rogue Valley Family Fun Center has affected his business, Oakley said that's not what's driving the sale. "The customers have been great," he says. A Realtor listed the cages briefly last year but just relisted them last week. Oakley has offered instruction and said he may continue the clinic even if the cages are sold. Oakley and his wife, Marilyn, moved to Southern Oregon after he retired from the Los Angeles County Fire Department in 1981.
