Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend January 22, 2006 Crater cruises to Classic crown Prep Roundup CENTRAL POINT — Top-ranked Crater continued to flex its muscles on the wrestling mat Saturday. The Comets crowned seven champions en route to the championship of the Crater Classic. Crater tallied 361.5 points to outdistance runner-up West Linn, which had 284.5. Outstanding upper-weight honors went to the Comets’ Jon Bernhard, who bumped up a weight to 152 pounds and scored a 2-1 victory over Sprague standout Mark Cinquini. Bernhard is ranked second in the Class 4A ranks at 145 pounds, while Cinquini is No. 2 at 152. Benhardt scored a reversal with 30 seconds remaining in the match to secure a 2-1 win. "This is a big win for Jon," Crater coach Greg Haga said. "Cinquini was second at the state meet last year. He’s a tough kid, but Jon wanted the challenge." Advertisement Crater’s other champions were Brock Gutches (103), Jake Vizinni (125), Tyler Weathers (130), Adam Lindgren (140), Nick Ryan (171), Chris Robertson (215) and Charlie Alexander (275).
