Medford police arrested Hughes Friday on charges of carrying a concealed knife, being a felon in possession of a weapon and providing false information in a criminal matter. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where he remained Friday night on $25,000 bail. Restraining order — Thomas Shayne Lee, 26, of the 1200 block of West Eighth Street, Medford. A Jackson County sheriff’s deputy arrested Lee Friday on a charge of violating a restraining order. He was lodged in jail, where he remained Friday night on $5,000 bail. Drugs — Mathew Patrick Harthun, 22, of the 200 block of North Third Street, Central Point. Medford police arrested Harthun Friday on charges of possession, manufacture and delivery of marijuana. He was lodged in jail, where he remained Friday night on $50,000 bail. Drugs — Irene Ruth Jones, 24, of the 200 block of North Ivy Street, Medford. Medford police arrested Jones Friday on a charge of possession of amphetamines. She was lodged in jail, where she remained Friday night on $5,000 bail. Kidnapping — Charles Jason Howard, 21, of the 900 block of Third Street, Rogue River. Talent police arrested Howard Friday on charges of first-degree kidnapping, second-degree robbery, third-degree assault and menacing. He was lodged in jail, where he remained Friday on $35,000 bail. Advertisement Crime reports Theft — 2000 block of Lampman Road, Gold Hill. A sheriff’s deputy took a report of a woman trying to steal gasoline from her estranged husband’s work truck. She lit a lighter to check how much gas remained in the truck’s tank and caught the truck and her car on fire, causing about $10,000 worth of damage. Vandalism — Helman, Laurel, Cambridge streets and Parkside Drive, Ashland. Ashland police took six reports of damage to vehicles’ doors, mirrors and windows and one report of vandalized yard lighting. A Laurel resident also reported seeing four boys walking down the street about 1 a.m. Friday smashing mailboxes. About $2,700 worth of damage was reported, police said. Accidents Pedestrian struck — intersection of California and Oregon streets, Jacksonville. An 87-year-old man was listed in fair condition at Rogue Valley Medical Center Friday night after being hit by a truck Friday about 8 a.m. Arthur Kocher was walking across California Street when he was hit by a pickup whose driver didn’t see him because of the angle of the morning sun, Jacksonville police Sgt. Don Moore said. No citations have been issued in the accident. Injury accident — 1500 block of Prune Street, Medford. An unrestrained 4-year-old boy hit the windshield when the vehicle he was riding in crashed around 7 p.m. Medford police, who are investigating the accident, said the boy remained at Rogue Valley Medical Center for observation Friday night. Fallen tree — Highway 234 just south of Sardine Creek, Gold Hill. Oregon Department of Transportation employees reported a large cypress tree from a yard fell across the highway, temporarily closing both lanes until crews could remove the trunk.
