Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend April 26, 2006 Earnings rise at People's Bank of C ommerce People's Bank of Commerce reported earnings rose 16 percent during the first quarter of 2006 to $302,000. The Medford-based bank reported per share earnings of 39 cents adjusted for a 5 percent stock dividend up from 34 cents per share in 2005. People's Bank reported a 21 percent increase in portfolio loans to $66.2 million, an 18 percent increase in deposits to $65.8 million, and a 16 percent increase in total assets to $76.7 million. Net interest income grew 26 percent and the net interest margin increased to a record 6.46 percent. A slight decline in mortgage activity during the first quarter lowered loan origination income, which bank officials attributed to rising home prices and mortgage rates. The bank has total shareholders' equity of more than $10 million and a book value of $13.65 per share, adjusted for stock dividends.
