Association of Realtors picks new president Rick Harris of RE/MAX Reality Group in Ashland took over as president of the Rogue Valley Association of Realtors on Friday in a ceremony at Rogue Valley Country Club. He has served on the Rogue Valley Association of Realtors and Oregon State Association of Realtors boards as well as state legislative and executive Realtor committees. Harris has taught theater arts and other subjects. In 1984, Harris moved from Spokane, Wash., to Oregon. He taught at Lane Community College in Eugene and eventually moved to Ashland to teach at what is now Southern Oregon University before starting his career in the real estate business. Harris told an audience of more than 200 real estate agents, brokers, title company representatives, appraisers, advertising clients and lenders that building and maintaining trust continues to be a substantial endeavor for those in the real estate business. He began his second career with Kelso Realty in Ashland as one of owners. When the agency sold to RE/MAX, he was one of the designated brokers for the company. Barbara Pulver, a former school teacher, was given the 2001 Realtor Image award. She has been with Pulver & Leever since 1988. Stacey Boals will serve as president-elect, while Barbara Biedak, Marie Donovan, Bonnie Picking, Carlene Hester, Deanna VanBuskirk, Kathy Walker, Barbara Pulver and Gloria Young are RVAR directors. OSAR directors are: Emile Cloutier, Bob Strosser and Valerie Elbert. Bob Bills and Bernie Young are past OSAR presidents. Cynthia White is SOMLS president and Larry Frank is past RVAR president.
