COURTS Felon gets prison after police chases Comment By Local report MailTribune.com By Local report Posted Jul. 8, 2016 at 4:52 PM By Local report Posted Jul. 8, 2016 at 4:52 PM » Social News A White City man was sentenced to more than a year in prison after admitting to causing two police chases, one of which led to a head-on crash with injuries. Tyler Jordan Rossiter, 25, was sentenced Thursday in Jackson County Circuit Court to 15 months in prison after pleading guilty to felony charges stemming from two police chases, including one on June 24 in which he hit another car head-on along Highway 62 while attempting to avoid spike strips. Rossiter ran through two stop signs at 40 miles per hour and drove at speeds approaching 90 mph in an Oldsmobile sedan. A passenger in the Dodge Neon he struck suffered a minor head injury from the crash. Rossiter pleaded guilty to felonies including third-degree assault, two counts of attempting to elude police in a vehicle and two misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person. Circuit Court Judge Lorenzo Mejia revoked Rossiter's driver's license for five years, and ordered him to pay restitution to be determined. In March, Rossiter was convicted of fleeing a police officer and reckless driving from a traffic stop. He also has convictions for first-degree burglary and first-degree theft in 2011 and for heroin possession in 2015.
