Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend June 23, 2005 Search crews call off effort to find missing hiker MOUNT MCLOUGHLIN — A search for a Beaverton man who disappeared last week during a hiking trip has officially ended, Klamath County Sheriff Tim Evinger said Wednesday. Jackson and Klamath county search teams began a hunt for John Vincent Zazzara, 54, last Thursday, after a friend reported him as missing. Zazzara reportedly traveled to Mount McLoughlin on June 12, police said. Evinger said he decided to terminate the police search for Zazzara because officials had exhausted all reasonable search options. Meanwhile, Zazzara’s friends and a professional mountain climber are expected to continue searching during the next several days, police said. Searchers last week found Zazzara’s Toyota sport-utility vehicle parked at a trailhead on the east side of Mount McLoughlin.
