Oregon Tech’s Kasey Jones took top honors with 4,001 points. Jones, the defending CCC heptathlon champ, won the long jump (15-9½ ) and javelin (124-10) on the final day. SOU’s Megan Heuberger was second with 3,694 points followed by teammates Kendra McGrath (3,440), Andrea Eide (3,319) and Brook Jaentsch (3,291). In the decathlon, Josh Allen of Eastern Oregon led from start to finish to win the two-day event with 5,582 points, Oregon Tech’s Nick Bakke was second with 5,436. Softball SOUTHERN OREGON 12-9, NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN 0-0 — At Eugene, Southern Oregon’s Angie Chaplin smacked two home runs in the non-conference twinbill, including a sixth-inning grand slam in the opener. Chaplin went 4-for-7 and drove in nine runs in the doubleheader. In the first game, SOU senior pitcher Brandi Brown allowed one hit and struck out six in four innings. Haley Varley had four hits and scored twice in the opener. In the nightcap, Lisa Aitchison had two hits, including a solo homer in the first inning. Shanna Doyel collected three hits, scored twice and had one RBI in Game 2. Southern Oregon improved to 21-8 and will play top-ranked Simon Fraser Friday in Portland.
