I suspect Ohio State would be better over the long run, but Oregon has been hotter in more recent years. Am I right? — Josh, Medford Josh, sorry to say you are so wrong, at least about recent years, that we may make you sing the Beaver fight song. Here are the facts: Over the past three years, Ohio State ranked second among the NCAA's major football programs, with a record of 36-3 and a win percentage of .923. Oregon ranked fourth at 35-4 and .897. Over the past 10 years, Ohio State was No. 1, with a record of 108-21, while Oregon was third at 105-25. Over the past 20 years, Ohio State was No. 1, at 205-49, while Oregon was eighth at 185-65. Over the past 30 years, Ohio State was No. 4 and Oregon was No. 15. But, assuming you are rooting for the Ducks in the upcoming national championship game, we have some hope for you, Josh. Do you know which team was ranked No. 1 for both the past three years and past 30 years? Florida State, which Oregon used to clean its cleats on during its 59-20 Rose Bowl win on New Year's Day.  So buck up, Josh. You may have lost the bet with your roommate, but the only numbers that will matter this year are the ones on the scoreboard next Monday night.
