It would certainly be more effective if no notice was given and drivers were ticketed for not stopping — as is rampant in this area — without warning. Thanks! — J. Ellicott, Jacksonville It’s all about education. Medford police Lt. Bob Hansen said the goal of the crosswalk enforcement program is to remind drivers of the need to yield to pedestrians. By posting signs and giving notice, police can get the message to more people. "We want to remind everyone, not just those who fail to yield and get a ticket," Hansen said.
