Greg Walden. The winners from Jackson, Josephine and Klamath counties of the annual student art contest were announced Monday. More than 100 pieces were submitted this year, a news release from Walden's office said. Ella Sachs, a senior at Grants Pass High School, was the Josephine County winner with her watercolor "Peace of Mind." Henley High School junior Colt Bruner received the honor in Klamath County for "Stuck in Time," a photograph depicting vehicles traveling under a night sky. County winners will have their artwork displayed in one of Walden's district offices in Medford, Bend, Hood River and La Grande, and the students will attend receptions in recognition of their talent this summer. Sage Hassell, a senior at Mountain View High School in Bend, won first place for the entire 2nd Congressional District with a painting called "Flaunt It." She will travel to Washington, D.C., to see the work displayed in a national student art exhibit in the U.S. Capitol and attend a reception June 23.
