Should I just wait, or what should I do? Is it too late to get the discount? Carol S., Central Point Our advice, Carol, is that you immediately call 774-6541 and speak to someone at the Jackson County Assessor’s Office. The due date for the first bill is coming up fast — Nov. 15. Taxpayers receive a 2 percent discount with a two-thirds payment and a 3 percent discount with a full payment if postmarked on or before Nov. 15. However, the assessor’s office wants residents to understand that if they drop off a payment at their post office by 10 p.m. on Nov. 15 it will not be postmarked on that day. Thus, Carol, you would lose the discount and accrue one month’s interest, up to an annual 16 percent. Send questions to "Since You Asked," Mail Tribune Newsroom, P.O.
