Police look for robber GRANTS PASS -- A man armed with a handgun robbed two people in separate incidents late Saturday in the parking lots of two area shopping centers. Grants Pass police were searching Sunday for a man in his early 20s in connection with the incidents at the Fred Meyer and Albertson's stores. Police said they believed the same man committed both crimes. Names of the victims were withheld pending further investigation. Police said a man approached a shopper from behind at the Fred Meyer store at 1101 Grants Pass Parkway at about 10 p.m. Saturday. The man showed a handgun and demanded money. Within half an hour, police received a report of a similar incident at Albertson's, 340 N.E. Beacon Drive. In both instances, an undisclosed amount of money was taken. Officers searched the surrounding area. The man is described as Hispanic, 5-foot-7, 160 to 170 pounds, with short dark hair, brown eyes, a thin mustache and a clean-cut appearance. He was wearing dark jeans and a sweatshirt and a baseball cap. Anyone who has any information about the incident should call the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, 474-6370.
