Police charge man in 1998 armed robberies Police arrested a man Tuesday in connection with two armed robberies in Medford late last year. Juan Maza Jr., 22, of Medford, was arrested on two counts of first-degree robbery in connection with the Nov. 18 robbery of Jan's Tans and the Nov. 20 robbery of Valley of the Rogue Bank. He was lodged in the Jackson County jail on $2 million bail. Maza was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon at the Jackson County Corrections Work Center, where he was serving 120 days for probation violation on a previous conviction for possession of a controlled substance. Investigators had received information that led police to Maza as a suspect, and they served a search warrant at his home Monday night at 2113 Sunburst Court No. 1.
