Medford offender gets 20-year prison term for sex abuse A Medford man who sexually abused the 8-year-old daughter of his former girlfriend will spend the next 20 years in prison. Kenneth Donald Skattebo, 21, was sentenced Thursday in Jackson County Circuit Court. "You were clearly thinking only of yourself," Judge Patricia Crain said. "You betrayed (the victim's) trust and it cannot ever be recovered for the rest of her life. And that's your fault." Medford police arrested Skattebo in May and charged him with first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual penetration and four counts of first degree sex abuse. The abuse re-portedly took place over a period of several months when Skattebo was living with the family. On Sept. 24, Skattebo pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree sex abuse and first-degree sodomy. The additional charges were dismissed. Thursday, the victim's family members tearfully begged Crain to impose the maximum sentence. Crain was forced to decide whether Skattebo would serve his prison terms consecutively or concurrently. "He's not the victim here," the child's mother said. The woman's name was not used at her request to protect the identify of the victim. "He raped my daughter. Fourteen years (in jail) is nothing." Crain sentenced Skattebo to consecutive terms of six years and three months, and eight years and four months. Skattebo was also ordered to pay for the victim's counseling and given 20 years post-prison supervision. "It was stupid of me to do. I know better. I was raised better," Skattebo said.
