NFL ROUNDUP Rams slip past Cowboys in first game back Comment By The Associated Press MailTribune.com By The Associated Press Posted Aug. 13, 2016 at 8:53 PM By The Associated Press Posted Aug. 13, 2016 at 8:53 PM » Social News LOS ANGELES — Dallas' Dez Bryant caught a 10-yard touchdown pass, but the Los Angeles Rams earned a win in their homecoming when Sean Mannion threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Green with 1:54 remaining for a 28-24 comeback over the Dallas Cowboys at the LA Coliseum on Saturday. Bryant had two receptions for 28 yards, including a leaping catch on the sideline against cornerback Coty Sensabaugh for 18 yards. He played one series before leaving the game. Quarterback Tony Romo, rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott, tight end Jason Witten and left tackle Tyron Smith were held out of the game. Rams running back Todd Gurley and defensive end Robert Quinn also did not play, as a crowd of 89,140 saw Cowboys wide receiver Lucky Whitehead score on a 101-yard kick return to welcome the NFL back to Southern California after a 22-year absence. No. 1 overall draft pick Jared Goff struggled after replacing Case Keenum early in the second quarter, completing 4 of 9 passes for 38 yards and an interception. TITANS 27, CHARGERS 10: At Nashville, Tenn., DeMarco Murray ran for a 71-yard touchdown and rookie Derrick Henry also scored and the Tennessee Titans' new-look rushing attack delivered an impressive debut. Murray, seeking a new start in Tennessee after struggling with Chip Kelly's offense in Philadelphia last season, had six carries for 93 yards. Henry, the 2015 Heisman Trophy winner from Alabama, had 10 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown. Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota played three series and went 5 of 5 for 45 yards, including a 31-yarder to rookie Tajae Sharpe. The Titans had a field goal on Mariota's first series and capped his final drive with Murray's touchdown. SEAHAWKS 17, CHIEFS 16: At Kansas City, Mo., Trevone Boykin engineered a last-minute, 88-yard touchdown drive in four plays, hitting Tanner McEvoy with a 37-yard scoring pass, and Tyvis Pope scored the 2-point conversion with no time remaining, lifting the Seattle Seahawks to a victory. Boykin, competing with veteran Jake Heaps to be Russell Wilson's backup, replaced Wilson after one possession and had some good and some not-so-good moments before getting going on the final drive. The clock showed 0:00 when McEvoy out-positioned and out-jumped Malcolm Jackson in the end zone, bringing the Seahawks to within one point in a game they had trailed all day. COLTS 19, BILLS 18: At Orchard Park, N.Y., with Andrew Luck getting a break, backup quarterbacks Scott Tolzien and Stephen Morris teamed up in leading the Indianapolis Colts to a preseason-opening win over the Buffalo Bills. The game wasn't without its late dramatics. Bills rookie third-stringer Cardale Jones nearly pulled out a comeback victory in the final seconds.
