Letters, Oct. 18 By Mail Tribune readers Oct 18, 2022 12:00 AM A A Drazan offers a choice If you are satisfied with the state of Oregon’s governance over the last four years, vote for a Democratic Party candidate, including Betsy Johnson. If not, Christine Drazan offers a clear choice. John M. Moore Eagle Point Dirty election It has been bad enough that we had no break from political commercials, but now they are getting downright mean, ugly and dirty. Anyone who puts out one with dirt instead of what their plans are automatically does not get my vote. Please clean it up. My mute button is worn out. Patricia Hebb Medford Passing the baton Before and after Roe v. Wade was overturned, I attended whatever rally/protest/march was held to support our rights as women. On Saturday I kind of dragged my heels to attend yet another gathering in Ashland, expecting it to be the same old thing. Wow! Was I ever wrong! After heartfelt intros by other old white goats, the stage was turned over to the (way) younger generation and ... these young women rocked it. Many Ashland High School and Southern Oregon University students delivered in an extraordinary fashion, through original poetry and song and through personal stories about race, sexual orientation, sexual assault: simply, the reality of being female in American society. I was blown away by the strengths, talents and insights of these incredible and diverse young women. That said, it saddens me that they (ages 16-19) have already endured so much abuse. While I and my like-minded contemporaries won’t give up the fight, we are heartened to know that they’ve got this. Vote choice. Jo Wayles Ashland PACs targeting Oregon We got rid of Trump because we had enough of his hateful lies. Republicans reacted with everything from an armed insurrection to threats against election officials. It’s been a crazy time, and now they’re targeting Oregon. Much of the out-of-state Republican PAC money going to Randy Sparacino is being spent on shamelessly deceitful attack ads against Jeff Golden. That’s how they spread their craziness. Jeff doesn’t take money from PACs and is doing a fine job. There’s no good reason to replace him but there are serious reasons not to, especially with someone from the Insurrection Party. Keep Oregon sane. Michael Steely Medford
