Police: Fingerprint match points to burglar Wednesday Oct 26, 2016 at 5:36 PM Oct 26, 2016 at 5:36 PM Vickie Aldous Mail Tribune @VickieAldous Medford police believe a fingerprint match has helped them solve a nearly year-old burglary case. Eric Michael Conlogue, 27, of the 200 block of Haven Street in Medford, now faces charges of second-degree burglary and second-degree theft in Jackson County Circuit Court. He entered not-guilty pleas to the charges Wednesday and has a pre-trial conference scheduled for Nov. 14. Back in November 2015, Medford police investigated a reported burglary of an unoccupied house and detached garage in the 400 block of Ross Lane. A power drill was reported stolen from the kitchen, according to a probable cause affidavit. Police believed the point of entry into the home was a window next to a back door. A fingerprint was lifted and sent to an Oregon State Police laboratory for analysis. The print was later allegedly matched to Conlogue, the affidavit said. It's not clear from court records where Conlogue was during the past year, although he was arrested and convicted on a heroin possession charge in December 2015, then sentenced to 10 days in jail and 18 months' probation. On Oct. 10, Medford police arrested Conlogue for another issue and lodged him in the Jackson County Jail, according to jail records. The Medford Police Department investigator of the 2015 burglary contacted Conlogue in the jail, but he declined to talk and invoked his right to have an attorney. On Oct. 13, Conlogue was arraigned on the new burglary and theft charges in relation to the past burglary. He has since been released on his own recognizance.
