The access road is so full of potholes it's difficult to get to the lake. Does the county have any plans to repair the access road? — Steve, Medford Jackson County Roads and Parks Director John Vial was straight up with his answer to us, Steve. Long story, short: You're absolutely right, the access road to Agate Lake is in rough shape and needs some TLC. "The road has an old chip seal on it that has clearly outlived its useful life and needs attention," Vial told us via email. "Take an already poor road and add this winter's freezing temperatures and heavy rains, and the road has taken a beating." But, he adds, there is good news. The roads department is in the process of soliciting bids for a complete paving and patching job that will likely kick off sometime this spring. By heavy fishing season, it should be in a lot better shape. So it sounds like you'll have to deal with the cratered entry to the lake for a couple more months, Steve.
