Jones and Lewis combined for 11 strikeouts as the Mustangs improved to 6-0 with the nonleague win. Medford broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning when Ryan Odell singled, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on Jared Adamson’s double. In the eighth, Ryan Augino singled and scored on Odell’s double. Odell came around to tally the final run on an error. Odell and Adamson each had two hits for the Mustangs. CENTRAL POINT 5, GRANTS PASS MINERS 1 — At Central Point, Tim Hill sparked Central Point to its third American Legion A victory in four games. Hill had two hits, two RBIs, two stolen bases and scored one run. Hill’s two-run single in the third inning highlighted a three-run outburst that gave the Comets a 4-0 lead. Central Point pitcher Shawn Ogle (1-0) allowed five hits in the complete-game performance. Cooper Schmelzer added two hits and one run for the Comets. Southern Oregon (0-4) tied the game 1-1 in the sixth inning. B.J. Holloway opened with a triple and scored on a ground out by Phil Ouellette. The Knights answered in the seventh with what proved to be the winning run. Singles by Tyler Moore and Shawn Wayt produced the go-ahead score.
