Medford woman dies in accident A Medford woman died Thursday morning after a car she was riding in struck a pickup truck on West McAndrews Road. Georgina B. Glathar, 77, of 2600 Stearns Way, died before authorities reached the scene. Glathar was a passenger in a 1996 Pontiac LeMans four-door sedan driven by her husband, Robert L. Glathar, 78, who broke several ribs and injured his spleen in the accident. He remained in serious condition Thursday night in Providence Medford Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said. According to Jackson County sheriff's deputies, the Glathars were traveling east on McAndrews Road about 11:50 a.m. Thursday when Robert Glathar attempted to make a left turn into a business in the 1200 block of McAndrews. The Glathars' vehicle then struck an oncoming Chevrolet pickup driven by 23-year-old Willie Adam Tynes of Medford. Tynes was not injured. The impact of the crash caused severe damage to the passenger-side door on the Glathars' vehicle, deputies said. Robert Glathar apparently did not see the oncoming pickup before turning left. Deputies said they do not believe excessive speed or alcohol was involved in the accident. No citations were issued and deputies said they do not plan to continue investigating the crash. Funeral arrangements for Georgina Glathar are being made by Memory Gardens. Mail Tribune Copyright The Mail Tribune 1999, Medford, Oregon USA
