Riverside Avenue/Main Street Consider:
Table Rock Road/Morningside Street Maintain visibility of stop signs
Crater Lake Avenue/Brookhur st Street Consider:

In addition to the foregoing projects, the City should make efforts to enhance street sy stem safety through
the following actions:
• Regularly monitor crash data on transportati on facilities within the City , and assess and update
the list of high crash locations as appropriate. At a m inimum, a reassessm ent of crash data should
be conducted once every three y ears or after a significant change in the roadway system has
occurred (a significant change is one which w ould cause a rerouting of traffic that causes a
substantive increase or decrease in traffic volum es). Intersection accident rates should be
calculated based on Million Entering Vehicles (M EV) according to the following form ula.
Accidents resulting from DUI or which do not have engineering solutions (such as road racing)
should be excluded from the data analy sis.
Crash rate / MEV = (# of accidents/years of dat a) x 1,000,000 / (total weekday traffic volum e x
261 weekdays in a year)
• Maintain an inventory of traffic control devices (e.g., traffic signals, signs, striping and pavem ent
marking) to ensure that these devices can be m anaged and kept in good repair.
• Require m aintenance of sight-distance areas adjacent to intersections and driveway s, to keep clear
of fencing, landscaping, foliage, etc. that could obstruct the view of m otorists, bicy clists, and
pedestrians.
• Actively enforce m otor vehicle codes related to transportation safety .
