Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend November 15, 2005 Driver who hit E.P. station arrested EAGLE POINT — A 52-year-old Klamath Falls man was allegedly drunk when he crashed his truck into the fire department’s break room Sunday morning, police said. Eagle Point police arrested Ricky Earl Giesler, 575 Flower Lane, for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license and failing to submit to a breathalyzer test. He was not lodged in jail. Eagle Point Police Chief Dave Strand said Monday he believed that Giesler lost control of his Ford F150 truck because he was intoxicated. Giesler had indicated to police and fire crews that the crash was caused when the vehicle’s throttle stuck. "We ain’t buying that," Strand said. Giesler, his two passengers and a dog, all of whom were in the cab of the truck, were generally cooperative, Strand said. No one was injured in the 8:30 a.m. accident, although three firefighters at the Jackson County Fire District 3 station in Eagle Point were thrown into a hallway by the impact. Fire Capt. Dennis Jordan estimated damage at between $30,000 and $50,000. Fire crews quickly patched the wall so that the break room remains usable, Jordan said.
