Bulldog Boxing Club advances four fighters The Bulldog Boxing Club advanced four fighters to the 2000 Silver Gloves regional tournament Saturday night in a tournament at the Red Lion in Medford. The regionals are scheduled next January in Boise. The Bulldogs won the team title, followed by West Eugene and Sweet Home. In the 10-11-year-old class, the Bulldogs' Manuel Gonzalez, fifth-rated nationally among 75-pound Silver Glovers boxers, decisioned Diego Hurtado of Reno. At 80 pounds, the Bulldogs' Ben Perez defeated Alfonzo Castro of Reno. Caleb Leonard, an 85-pounder from Sweet Home, decisioned the Bulldogs' Moises Rodriguez. In 12-13-year-old competition, Alex Trujillo of the Bulldogs stopped Bay City 132-pounder Ty Stevens in the third round to earn outstanding fighter honors. Among 14-15-year-olds, the Bulldogs' Troy Wohosky 112, stopped Chris Davidson of Portland in the second round to earn outstanding fighter honors. In a separate senior (17-and-older) event, Homero Gonzalez of the Bulldogs decisioned 147-pounder. Enrique Gutierrez of Napa, Calif., and Ricardo Gutierrez of the Bulldogs decisioned 178-pounder Silvano Gutierrez of Napa. Central Point's Mike Wilson, a three-time junior national champion, stopped Tyler Hinkey of McDermitt, Nev., in the third round of the 201-pound plus division.
