Authorities and family are searching for a 16-year-old Ashland girl, Annessa Moriarty, who is believed to have run away at about 5:30 p.m. Monday. According to her mother, Sabena Vaughan, Annessa suffers from mental illness and is without the medication that stabilizes her. She is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and 150 pounds, with dark hair and hazel eyes. She may be wearing pink glasses. She was last seen wearing a short sleeve, gray Ashland High School softball T-shirt, blue jeans and light brown Chaco sandals. She may have a black, hoodless, North Face fleece with a pink breast cancer awareness ribbon embroidered on the cuff. She also has a white IronMan Triathlon Colorado backpack that has the word “IronMan” on it in black lettering. She was believed to have left on her bicycle, which is a gray, specialized mountain bike, with bright pink handle grips (see photo). According to a Facebook post on the Ashland Peeps group, of which Vaughn is the moderator, she has some medications with her. “Her doctors do not think she can overdose on these, but we also aren't sure what she could or would take them with. She left us a note but wasn't specific about suicidal intents,” Vaughan wrote. “As far as we know she would not be a threat to you, or anyone. She is a loving and kind person, but mental illness causes her to not make very good decisions sometimes.” Anyone with information about the missing girl is asked to call her mother Sabena Vaughan at 541-531-1444 or the non-emergency Ashland Police line at 541-488-2211.
