George Howard Davol Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Mar. 12, 2016 at 2:00 AM Posted Mar. 12, 2016 at 2:00 AM » Social News The world was a little colder with the loss of George Howard Davol March 3, 2016 in Ashland, Ore. Anyone who met Howard knew how special he was. Howard was born in Martinez, Calif. December 16, 1948. Larger than life, Howard never stopped moving and never stopped learning, as documented by the autobiography he wrote at age 14, entitled, "Tales to Astonish." An avid hunter and fisherman, Howard had hundreds of hobbies, including playing old-time music on his fiddle with his band, “Old Souls and Spicy Dishes," gardening, and entertaining family and friends. He could build anything, fix anything, and was always eager to help anyone in need. He was a therapist, a teacher, a hero, and an inspiration to all who knew him. The first psychologist in private practice in the Rogue Valley, Howard practiced psychology for 40 years, helping thousands of families with his compassion, wit, and wisdom. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Charlene (Cherie); his five sons, Patrick and wife Katy, Ryan and wife Hollina, Nathan, Ben and wife Marie, and Brent; his sister, Susan Neilson of Concord, Calif.; his niece, Eden; his nephew, Justin; and his four grandchildren, Callie, Avery, Lillian, and Henry. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gertude Davol. Howard may be gone, but his imprint on the world will never be forgotten.
