The National Weather Service said up to three inches of snow could fall at the national park overnight Saturday into Sunday, along with other areas in the region above 6,000 feet. "You might see one to three inches depending on where you're at on the rim," said meteorologist Misty Duncan. The unseasonably cool weather will extend to the Rogue Valley, too, with weekend temperatures expected to plunge to about 15 degrees below normal. In Medford, the normal daily high temperature for July 8-11 is about 89 degrees. The city's high Friday is expected to be 74. A high of 72 is forecast for Saturday, with a high of 73 predicted for Sunday. Medford could also see some precipitation. Rain is expected to begin later today along the Oregon Coast. Up to a quarter inch of rain could fall in Medford by Sunday evening. There will be a chance of thunderstorms east of the Cascades Friday afternoon, followed by a drop in snow levels that could leave Crater Lake in July looking more like Crater Lake in October. "It's just an unusually strong low-pressure system for this time of year that's coming in from the Gulf of Alaska," Duncan said. Weather officials said it should start to feel like summer again by Monday, when the high temperature is forecast to climb back to 80. Gradual warming is expected through the rest of the week.
